Nobody can tell when disaster will hit. There are disasters like unforeseen medical expenses due to disease or injury that takes a toll on family cash flow, and can lead to bankruptcy. Car accidents, home damage and repairs are issues that also come up. All of these cost money that probably isn’t budgeted in the family income.

Divorce

Although a person may see it coming, it is difficult when change comes. Income can go from a dual income to a single income or no income, making bankruptcy loom over one’s head. At the same time, assets divide, and what once seemed like an easy income stream becomes something that feels too small to live on.  Life changes and awareness of what is coming is the key.

Bankruptcy laws were put in place because many of the above listed reasons for bankruptcy are unavoidable. Most importantly, some of these reasons are avoidable. It’s this status that has contributed somewhat to the Declining value of the American Dollar. People have simply lost a lot of the belief they used to have in this currency.

While the notion of meditating on a particular value of your money sounds interesting, ultimately it isn’t that deep. If you want your money to be worth more than it is today, you just have to be an active contributor to its value. Buying power isn’t necessarily a complicated thing.

Being Active

When you are an active contributor to the value of your money, you decide how much you are going to spend on any given thing and hold your ground there. For example, if you determine that you will spend x amount on groceries and keep hunting for sales and deals until you can hold to that price, you will keep a lot of buying power for a long time. Groceries are very resistant to inflation because people hate spending more for food.

In the same vein, you can exercise this type of power over the luxuries you buy. Your home or car budget can also be controlled if you take an active interest in keeping your costs as low as possible. The less you want to spend your money, the more every dollar is worth. This is called the speed of money, and it is fascinating.

Every Problem Has a Solution

The economy is never going to be perfect. No matter how great society becomes, people’s constantly rising expectations are going to create problems and disappointment. The good news is, you will always have the power to decide where you put your dollars. Look for sales, work harder to earn more and keep to what you intend to spend and your money will remain precious and valuable.
