Spas

The people of this region practice a form of alternative medicine called Ayurveda. Ayurvedic medicine focuses on balancing the three elemental energies of the body to encourage health and longevity. Herbal remedies, steam baths and massage are among the practices of Ayurvedic medicine. This holistic approach has become popular in Sri Lanken spas, making them world-famous.

Saman Villas in Bentota is a popular resort. This small, private resort sits between two beaches, giving travelers many opportunities for sun and sand. The resort was recently refurbished, and now offers the latest and greatest amenities to make your stay a trip to paradise.

History

With human settlements dating all the way back to the Paleolithic era, Sri Lanka is rich in history. This history is written in the structures that remain. Sri Lanka is home to Sigiriya, which has been called the Eighth Wonder of the World. This rock fortress is surrounded by gardens, reservoirs and aqueducts. Built in the 5th century, the rock surface of the palace is decorated with frescos that add to the peculiarity and wonder of the “Fortress in the Sky.” This exquisite example of early architecture and craftsmanship is something you won’t want to miss.
